An Overlooked Gem

A multi winged yellow brick building with a grassy area in the middle

Not far from the Fife and Drum Inn in Williamsburg, there are dozens of appealing attractions that you can visit each day for a well-rounded vacation. One overlooked gem is Yorktown, VA, just a few miles down the breathtaking Colonial Parkway, and site of where the British surrendered, a key part of the end of the Revolutionary War. Visit the battlefield and learn about General George Washington’s leadership. You’ll get all the details about the blockade of the York River, while gazing over the bluffs to the actual York River! This area is full of interesting stories, including Cornwallis’ dodge during the surrender and Washington’s reaction.

"Our hopes and expectations (for a great place to stay) were met and exceeded, for sure."
