“Most convenient location in Williamsburg. Wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else to visit our son who attends the College of William and Mary.”

Williamsburg, the former capital of Virginia boasts not only a rich and vibrant history, it is also home to multiple restaurants; elegant and high-end restaurants, cozy eateries with candlelit booths, and laid-back bistros and cafes for a quick bite when you’re on the go.
Here are our best restaurants in Williamsburg picks!
For seafood lovers, Berrett’s Seafood Restaurant and Taphouse Grill is the place to be. Offering dinner and one of the best lunch spots in Williamsburg, Berrett’s has indoor and outdoor seating, fresh and seasonal seafood and produce, and has earned the “Best Crabcakes” moniker year after year. For the non-seafood eaters, the same level of care is taken with the steaks, chops and poultry entrees.
Named after a reference in the Colonial Era playwright John Lyly’s poem, Fat Canary is a refined bistro easily recognizable by its’ green walls, patio dining, and cheese shop. The seasonal menu changes regularly, which means guests have the opportunity to eat something new every time they visit. Fresh seafood, crisp produce, and fine wine are always in season at Fat Canary.
Transport yourself back to colonial times at Kings Arm Tavern Restaurant. This authentic reproduction public house serves up a transporting experience for the senses in Colonial Williamsburg, and is true to the time period from the garb worn by the servers to the pewter candlesticks. The menu is inspired by 18th-century recipes, but updated to better suit 21st-century tastes.
If fine dining isn’t what you’re looking for, check out the other restaurants and cafes that are a few minutes from the front door of Fife & Drum Inn.
Culture Cafe is a quick three minute walk from the Inn, and is the epitome of eclectic and unique. The decor swings into the industrial-bohemian vibe, complete with cozy loungers and unique artwork. The menu is just as unique, but is inclusive to all tastes and dietary preferences.
Right across the street from the Inn is Blue Talon Bistro. Many of the dishes here are the result of old fashioned techniques that are reminiscent of meals that have been prepared and served for generations. From French-inspired soups to American-style burgers and sandwiches, Blue Talon prepares all their dishes in-house and can accommodate dietary needs or preferences.
Amber Ox Public House is a local favorite. The relaxed atmosphere of a public house pairs with the fresh, ever-changing menu to create a must-visit eatery. The menu changes frequently due to the availability of ingredients from local farming partners. Shared plates, crisp salads, and signature dishes and cocktails are all available on the menu.
Open for dinner and late night on Fridays and Saturdays, Hounds Tale is a casual, cozy bistro-type restaurant that has affordably fresh, tasty bites that range from comfort foods like soups and mac & cheese with a twist, to international dishes like ratatouille and chicken tikka masala.
Most of the restaurants in Williamsburg will allow you to make a reservation 30 days in advance. We recommend that you do that. It is a lot easier to break them than it is to make them.
