About the Inn and Reservations

The Fife and Drum Inn located downtown, is close to local attractions and restaurants. We offer a complimentary breakfast and provide many amenities similar to a hotel, focusing on personalized service. Check-in is at 3:00 PM, and check-out is at 11:00 AM. A deposit for one night's stay is required, and cancellations within 48 hours of check-in incur a one-night charge. Children are welcome (age 8 and over), but we do not allow pets. We are committed to inclusivity and accessibility, and though our historic building does not have an elevator, we are always ready to assist if needed. Some rooms have two beds; specify your preference when booking.

Question: Where is the Inn Located?
Answer: The Fife and Drum Inn is located at 441 Prince George Street in the historic Hitchens Building in downtown Williamsburg, VA, near the College of William and Mary. We are adjacent to several of the shops and restaurants of Merchants Square. Historic Colonial Williamsburg is a two block walk from the front door.


Question: Do you serve breakfast?
Answer: We serve a continental breakfast from 8 to 10 AM. A full breakfast can be found at several places within a few feet of the Inn's front door, such as Aromas Coffee Shop or the Blue Talon Café.


Question: Are you a hotel?
Answer: Not quite. We are a bed & breakfast boutique inn that offers an authentic and intimate Williamsburg experience. Our reception desk is staffed from 7:30 AM to 3 PM daily, but our innkeepers are often there at other times. We have a 24-hour phone that guests can call outside our regular hours. Our staff is never more than a few minutes away from the Inn.


Question: What time is Check-In?
Answer: 3PM; however, you are welcome to touch base with us when you arrive in Williamsburg. We will get you parked and in your room ASAP.


Question: What time is Check-Out?
Answer: 11AM, but we can usually allow you to park until at least 2PM. You are always welcome to use the common area and public restroom all day.

Question: Do you have deposit requirements?
Answer: Yes, We require ½ the total of the room night stay (less taxes) as deposit.


Question: Is there a cancellation fee?
Answer: Yes, see our policies page for detail.


Question: Do you allow children?
Answer: Due to the intimate nature of the inn, children aged 7 and older are welcome.


Question: Do you allow pets?
Answer: We do not allow pets.


Question: Are you an inclusive hotel?
Answer: Yes! We welcome and serve a diverse clientele. All are welcome here.


Question: Do you have an elevator?
Answer: No. Being a historic property over 90 years old, we do not have an elevator.


Question: Do rooms have more than one bed?
Answer: Yes. The Yorktown Room and the Restoration Suite each have a queen and twin bed designed for sleeping up to three guests.


Question: Does the inn offer ironing boards?
Answer: Yes, all rooms have irons and boards.


Question: Do you offer parking?
Answer: We offer one free parking space per room in our private lot on Boundary Street or the city parking garage behind the inn.
