“Billy and Sharon are fonts of local information and history. They really helped us make the best use of our time.”
~ Jim & Sue S.
While visiting Williamsburg, take a day trip to the James River Plantations. Full of rich history and strategically located between the James and Chickahominy Rivers, these plantations offer a day filled with history! The county of Charles City was the first westward expansion of English-speaking America.
Established in 1619, its plantations and farms along the James River have survived the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812 and the War Between the States. Today you can visit and tour the county’s manor homes, all privately owned and preserved.
Spend the day exploring the Plantations! Many of them offer tours and different activities or events during the seasons.
