One overlooked gem is Yorktown, VA, just a few miles down the breathtaking Colonial Parkway, and site of where the British surrendered, a key part of the end of the Revolutionary War. Visit the battlefield and learn about General George Washington’s leadership. You’ll get all the details about the blockade of the York River, while gazing over the bluffs to the actual York River! This area is full of interesting stories, including Cornwallis’ dodge during the surrender and Washington’s reaction.
